Presence with Body: Discovering Stability, Ease and Freedom – Meditation and Yoga Retreat

Galilee Centre 398 John Street North, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada

The first mindfulness practices that the Buddha taught were being attentive to our experience in the body—coming to our senses. In this meditation retreat, yoga practice (guided by David Schouela) will be an integral part of the retreat, and will be a form of meditation in motion. There will be two or three sessions of yoga each day.

Acceptance, Love and Compassion in Meditation: A Daylong Retreat

The Yoga Connection 39 Gore Street, Perth, ON, Canada

Insight Meditation is a practice of attention and awareness that brings a kind, non-judging and compassionate presence to our inner experience, our relationships and the way we engage with the world. It is not a cold and demanding gaze, driving us towards perfectionism; rather it is learning to accept and attend to whatever our experience may be. By staying open and present we come to realize its impermanent nature. We may feel grief, wanting, fear or anger but we do not need to be overwhelmed and consumed by them. It is not who we are; we are the space of awareness within which it is known and received. The afternoon retreat will include meditation instruction, sitting and walking meditation, guided practices of loving-kindness and compassion, discussion and opportunity for questions in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is welcome: beginners and more experienced practitioners. Space is limited! This event will be limited to 22 participants. Registration Information Cost: Sliding scale: $45 (students, unemployed, retired) - $60 (regular fee) - $75 (supporter fee). TNI is dedicated to offering affordable rates to all. Finding Our Way Through Loss and Grief to Peace – An Afternoon Retreat

Yoga on the Park Studio 5582 Sherbrooke St. West (metro Vendome, aut #105), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Loss is part of life; no one escapes change and loss. Some losses are felt intensely; it may feel difficult to find our way forward in life. We might not know how to continue on when someone we love has died, a relationship ends or if a dream or vision no longer seems possible. Or we may be caught in a tangle of "if only" thoughts. This retreat will explore how to be open to creativity, love and joy in our lives while compassionately accepting the pain and confusion of loss. We will learn practices to be intimately present within ourselves, in wholeness and stability. Contemplation of the universality of loss and cultivation of forgiveness and acceptance will also be a part of our day. The afternoon retreat will include meditation instruction, sitting and walking meditation, guided practice of compassion, discussion and opportunity for questions in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is welcome: beginners and more experienced practitioners. Space is limited! This event will be limited to 32 participants. The teachings and instructions will be given in English. Meditation and Yoga for Embodied Presence

Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health 57 Interlaken Road, Stockbridge, United States

For all levels. Meditation and yoga are mutually supportive awareness practices that serve to deepen insight. You can practice yoga as meditation-in-motion, and practice insight meditation to bring the quality of compassionate self-observation to your sensory and mental experiences. Together, these techniques help you recognize the changing nature of your sensations, thoughts, mental states, and reactive patterns. When you release identification with your habits, those habits no longer drive you. In a silent retreat suitable for both beginners and those with meditation and yoga experience, cultivate embodied presence through sitting and walking meditation and three yoga sessions each day. There will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss your practice with the meditation teacher in small-group meetings and individually, by request.   Co-Teacher: David Schouela David Schouela, RYT 500, is a Kripalu Yoga teacher whose current primary focus is teaching yoga to teens and adults with complex trauma and chronic treatment-resistant PTSD. David is on the teaching faculty for the Trauma Sensitive Yoga certificate program offered through the Trauma Center at JRI in Brookline, Massachusetts. The Dharma of Relationships

Galilee Centre 398 John Street North, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada

Possibly the most challenging and important part of life into which we bring our practice of mindfulness is the arena of relationships. Our intimate relations, colleagues at work, friends and even neighbors call us to be present in the moment and respond with authenticity and heart. Yet relationships are often the very context in which reactive patterns are triggered, and we bring to these encounters the pain of old baggage.

The Heart of the Buddha’s Teachings

Galilee Centre 398 John Street North, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada

The Buddha began his lifetime of teaching by giving attention to the reality of human suffering and the potential for liberation. The elaborate self-identities we construct are in actuality the root of suffering.
